Bangladesh cricket team started their journey in Asia Cup by losing against Afghanistan. It must be a sad day for Bangladesh cricket. But on that day, Liton Kumar Das, one of the best batsmen of Team Bangladesh, heard the good news. The opener, who could not play in the Asia Cup due to injury, said that he is recovering.
Liton left the field on a stretcher with a hamstring injury in the last Zimbabwe series. After that, he did not play in the remaining matches of the series, but he had to return to the country for rehabilitation. The doctor in charge of Liton’s rehabilitation said that it will take at least three to four weeks for him to fully recover.
Even though he can’t play in the Asia Cup, a big event like the World Cup is ahead. Liton is preparing himself with that mission in mind. Apart from batting, other trainings and exercises are going on in Mirpur. However, he can enter the net with the bat in a couple of days. Liton and Yasir Ali Rabi also did training on the sand with physio Iftekhar Ifti. Then Liton also ran for 30 minutes in Mirpur.
Regarding his recovery from injury, Liton said, ”I trained on sand to maintain my balance. It helps a bit while batting. Currently doing running, gym session. I hope, two days later I will be able to enter the field with the bat. ”
Liton, Yasir and Nurul Hasan Sohan are undergoing regular training under BCB trainer Ifti to recover from injuries. Regarding the latest injury status of these three, the trainer said, “Nothing serious is being done. There is no chance. Everyone is improving. But the physio can say best about that.”
Liton was in great form with the bat before the Asia Cup. Liton’s absence was more evident in the team’s batting disaster against Afghanistan. With the news of his recovery, there is a sigh of relief in Team Bangladesh. His fans hope that Liton will return to form with the bat in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
