WPL 2023: UP-W vs RCB-W 13th Match – Predicted Royal Challengers Bangalore Women Playing XI vs UP Warriorz

Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered their fifth consecutive defeat after losing against Delhi Capitals in their last Women’s Premier League 2023 (WPL) game on March 13. The star Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry smashed another fifty and youngster Richa Ghosh smashed 37 off 16 as the Royal Challengers scored 150/4 while batting first.

But once again, the bowlers struggled to defend as the Capitals chased the target with six wickets and two balls remaining. Asha Shobana took two wickets for 27 but the likes of Renuka Singh and Perry continued to struggle for wickets. The Bangalore-based franchise suffered a 10-wicket defeat while defending 138 ragainst UP Warriorz in the first leg of this fixture and will be second favorites to win on March 15.

Captain Smriti Mandhana scored just eight runs off 15 as she remains without a fifty in the tournament. Renuka has also managed to get just one wicket so far and is facing heat. But the Royal Challengers are unlikely to tinker with their playing XI on Wednesday. Another defeat will end their hopes for the Eliminator qualification so the team will be under great pressure against the Warriorz.

Here’s Royal Challengers Bangalore’s predicted XI for the match against UP Warriorz:

Openers: Smriti Mandhana (c), Sophie Devine

Smriti scored just eight runs after facing 15 deliveries against Delhi Capitals and has been below par in five games so far. She has scored just 88 runs at a strike rate of 117.33 and will be under pressure to perform in the remaining three group-stage games. Smriti is also facing heat for her questionable leadership skills, which is slightly affecting her batting.

Sophie Devine started well against Delhi Capitals by scoring 21 off 19 but was not able to convert it into a big knock. The White Ferns’ all-rounder scored 36 off 24 against UP Warriorz in their first leg and has scored 153 runs from five innings at a strike rate of 139.09 so far.

Middle order: Ellyse Perry, Heather Knight, Richa Ghosh, Disha Kasat

Ellyse Perry smashed an unbeaten 67 off 52 with the help of four fours and five sixes against Delhi Capitals. She also scored 52 off 39 against UP Warriorz in the previous meeting and is the only player to score more than one fifty for RCB so far.

Heather Knight scored just 11 off 12 against Delhi Capitals in the last game but did not get a chance to bowl. She also struggled against UP Warriorz and needs to contribute more with a bat. The English skipper has scored 77 runs from five innings and has taken four wickets in three innings so far.

Richa Ghosh smashed a crucial 37 off just 16 with three fours and three sixes against the Capitals in the last game. But the young wicketkeeper batter has been inconsistent with her performances so far. She has scored just 78 runs from five innings at a strike rate of 136.84.

Disha Kasat returned to the playing XI after missing two games but did not get a chance to bat against the Capitals in the last game. She has scored just nine runs from two innings and will be under pressure to prove her worth in the upcoming games.

All-rounder: Shreyanka Patil

The young batting all-rounder is making a name for herself with crucial cameos and impressive spells of off-spin. She scored just four runs against the Capitals but bowled an economic spell. Shreyanka has scored 53 runs at a strike rate of 151.42 and has taken two wickets so far.

Bowlers: Megan Schutt, Sobhana Asha, Preeti Bose, Renuka Singh

Megan Schutt returned to the playing XI against the Capitals after missing the game against UP Warriroz. She dismissed Shafali Verma and conceded only 24 runs from her four-over spell. Schutt has taken just two wickets in four innings at an economy rate of 9.07 so far.

Sobhana Asha made a big impact against the Capitals with the valuable wickets of Meg Lanning and Jemimah Rodrigues. She was not part of the playing XI against the UP Warriorz but is likely to retain her place for the upcoming clash.

Preeti Bose, the left-arm spinner, returned to the playing XI against the Capitals and took Alice Capsey’s wicket. She conceded 12 runs and was restricted to bowling only one over. She has taken just two wickets from four innings so far and need to be at her best against UP Warriorz to remain a part of playing XI in the coming games.

Renuka cost the Bangalore-based franchise INR 1.5 crore in the auction but has been one of the high-profile underperforming players in the tournament so far. She has taken just one wicket from five innings at an economy rate of 9.47 so far and another average spell might cost her a place in the playing XI for the remaining games.
