WPL 2023: DEL-W vs MI-W 7th Match – Predicted Mumbai Indians Women Playing XI vs Delhi Capitals Women

Two of the most in-form teams are set to lock horns in Match 7 of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) as Mumbai Indians (MI-W) take on Delhi Capitals (DEL-W). Not only have they won back-to-back games, it is with ease and dominance that the teams have registered their victories.

The upcoming clash between skippers Harmanpreet Kaur and Meg Lanning makes it all the more interesting as the duo have been quite impactful as leaders of their respective sides. Both teams have posted scores of over 200 runs and a high-scoring contest can be expected at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Thursday, March 9.

Quite a few interesting sub-plots are attached to the contest which adds to its appeal. The leading wicket taker, Saika Ishaque up against the leading run scorer- Meg Lanning will be an exciting clash for the fans. Both teams will aim to push each other in order to extend their record to three wins.

Here’s Mumbai Indians predicted XI for the 7th match against Delhi Capitals:

Openers – Yastika Bhatia (wk), Hayley Matthews

Wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia has been quite sharp behind the stumps. The side can rely on her for the breakthroughs as a keeper, however, her batting has been the worrisome aspect. With just 24 runs in two games, she has endured an underwhelming start to the WPL.

On the other hand, Hayley Matthews has taken the league by storm as she is the second-highest run getter with 124 runs in two games. In the previous match against RCB, the batter smashed an unbeaten 77 runs off just 38 balls to comfortably steer her side to chase the target. While, it may be slightly tricky against Delhi, in any case the Caribbean hitter will aim to maintain her explosive form.

Middle order – Nat Sciver-Brunt, Harmanpreet Kaur (c)

Nat Sciver-Brunt scored a blistering knock in her previous outing when she got 55 to her name in 29 balls. Furthermore, her exceptional batting performances in the international arena has made her a reliable candidate to get the vital scores when the side would require.

Harmanpreet Kaur has been quite a dynamic skipper thus far in the event. In the two matches leading the Mumbai Indians, Harmanpreet has made quite a few rotations in the bowling unit at regular intervals so as to not allow the rival team to settle. Certain decisions have worked her way and her form with the bat as well has been impressive.

All-rounders – Amelia Kerr, Amanjot Kaur, Pooja Vastrakar

Amelia Kerr got two scalps to her name but also leaked 30 runs in her 3.4 overs. While there is still lots for her to improve on the bowling front, her batting in the first match against Gujarat Giants garnered some attention as she got an unbeaten 45 off 24 balls to steer the team to a 200+ total. Similar performances can be expected by Kerr in the forthcoming games.

Despite being part of the XI in both fixtures against Bangalore and Gujarat, Amanjot is yet to get an opportunity to display what she is capable of. Her accurate pace-bowling coupled with a flair in playing class strokes will surely help the side towards the conclusion phase of the innings. Furthermore, her electric fielding can help her side save some runs which could change the course of a match. 

23-year-old Pooja Vastrakar can add lot of impact with the ball, however, the rival batters have found it easy to target her for the big runs. In the forthcoming matches, Pooja will look to better her economy and play an integral role in the team.

Bowlers – Issy Wong, Humaira Kazi, Saika Ishaque, Jintimani Kalita

Saika Ishaque has been a force to be reckoned with. She has scalped as many as six wickets in just two outings for the side. While the rival batters have found it difficult to target her, Delhi batters Meg Lanning, Shafali Verma, and Jemimah Rodrigues among others will look to play her delicately. 

Humaira Kazi has been razor sharp on the field helping the side with the run-outs and saving runs. However, she is yet to bowl for the side and could get her chance in the forthcoming game against DC. Considering that the side boasts too many bowling options, Jintimani Kalita and Issy Wong have not got a chance to bowl their complete four overs in the contest yet. However, they have both come in handy in the few overs that they have bowled and will aim to continue bowling decently in the upcoming games.
