India star batter Virat Kohli ended his century drought after almost three years during the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2022. The former India skipper reached the three-figure mark against Afghanistan in the Super 4 match in Dubai in September. Before that, he scored a century in international cricket back in November 2019 against Bangladesh.
In a recent turn of events, Kohli’s celebration picture from the same Asia Cup match has been doing rounds on social media as the image was featured in a 9th standard English question paper. The question was to describe the Indian cricketer in 100-120 words.
The 34-year-old batter smashed the century from 53 deliveries, which marked his 71st international hundred. Before this ton, he scored two half-centuries in the Asia Cup itself. He scored 59 not out against Hong Kong and 60 against arch-rivals Pakistan.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Kohli’s viral picture:
Following his brilliant spell in the Asia Cup, he continued his impressive run of form in the T20 World Cup 2022 as well. He last scored a century in the fourth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The star cricketer is currently gearing up for the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) which will begin on March 31. The Royal Challengers Bangalore cricketer who stepped down from his role as captain last year will be looking to win his maiden IPL title this season. The Faf du Plessis-led side will kickstart their 2023 IPL season against five-time champions Mumbai Indians on April 2 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
