The inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League will see Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians take on Meg Lanning’s Delhi Capitals in the final of the tournament. Ahead of the finale, Mumbai Indians male contingent, led by skipper Rohit Sharma, have shared a special message for the women’s team.
Rohit Sharma, who led Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles during his reign, wished Harmanpreet Kaur’s side all the best for the final against Delhi Capitals at the Brabourne Stadium on Sunday, March 26. Rohit advised the team to enjoy the occasion as the final of such a prestigious tournament does not come around often.
“I want to wish our women’s team all the very best for the finals. I’ve really enjoyed how you have all played in the last 4 weeks. It’s the final and you don’t get to play a final every day. So, it’s important to enjoy yourselves and have fun at the same time. Enjoy the atmosphere. It’s going to be amazing. We’ll be cheering for you. So go out there and give it your best!” Rohit said in a video shared by Mumbai Indians.
Apart from Rohit, several of his teammates including Suryakumar Yadav, Jason Behrendorff, Tilak Verma and Tim David, wished Harmanpreet Kaur’s side ahead of the finale.
“Mumbai girls are in the finals, in full form. As one family, I would like to wish each one of you all the very best for the WPL final. I look forward to cheering for you. Let’s have a great game this season for one last time,” said Suryakumar.
Behrendorff said: “What an amazing tournament it’s been so far. We’ll be watching very closely. Keep doing the little things well as you have all tournament and you’ll be fine. All the best, we’ll be watching.”
David said: “Best of luck to the girl’s team for the final. It’s been a fantastic season so far. Wish you all the best for the final.”
“All the best Mumbai Indians women’s team. We are here to support you and hope we get the first title,” said Tilak.
