Pakistan’s Ihsanullah sends strong message to India’s Umran Malik

Pakistan’s young cricket sensation and Multan Sultans pacer, Ihsanullah has conveyed a strong message to India’s Umran Malik, fuelling the speculations as to who would deliver the fastest ever delivery in cricket.

Ihsanullah is a young 20-year-old cricketer from Pakistan, who is currently being regarded as the pick for the Multan Sultans in the ongoing Pakistan Super League, and is being termed as the future bright prospect for Pakistan’s men’s national team as a leading pace bowler.

Interestingly enough, not many people know that the rising pacer took part in last year’s PSL, whereby he only bowled one over for Karachi team, but got injured in the next match against Lahore and got ruled out of last year’s franchise-based event.

Notably, after regaining his fitness and starting his life afresh after losing his home in the 2022 floods in Pakistan, the pacer has not looked back and has only got better with each match. Meanwhile, in his message to Umran Malik, he wishes to surpass Malik to touch the 160kph barrier.

“Inshallah, koshish karunga. Umran Malik ne jo 157kph pe ball kiya hai, main koshish karunga uss se upar karunga. Umran Malik se upar karunga, 160 karunga. (God willing, I will try. Umran Malik had recorded 157kph, I will try to break his record. I will be aiming for the 160kph mark),” the youngster was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.

The right-arm fast bowler seemed absolutely confident that he could easily topple Umran Malik to be the bowler who could break the speedometer. For the unversed, till date, the record for the fastest delivery ever to be delivered is still owned by Pakistan’s Shoaib Akhtar, who delivered a whopping 161.3kmph (100.2mph) in a One-Day International (ODI) game against England during the 2003 Cricket World Cup, at Cape Town, in South Africa.

Speaking about Ihsanullah, the youngster caught everyone’s attention when he finished with figures of 5/12 in four overs during a match for the Multan Sultans against the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL. If his impressive figures weren’t enough for applause, what caught everybody’s attention even more was the fact that Ihsanullah was consistently clocking speeds of 150kph+ during his first over of the match.

This had many comparing him with India’s Umran Malik, who broke the Indian record for the fastest delivery, when he recorded 155kph during the second ODI of the series against Sri Lanka.
