Following the completion of the ongoing tour of England, Bangladesh will host Ireland for a multi-format series, starting from March 18. This is going to be the first ever multi-format series that the two countries will play at a senior level.
Ireland are set to play three ODIs, three T20Is and one Test in Bangladesh, starting on March 18. This is going to be Ireland’s only fourth Test match in their cricket history and the first ever between Ireland and Bangladesh. The tour will start off with the ODI series which will be played in Sylhet on March 18, 20 and 23. This will then be followed by the T20I series which will be played in Chattogram on March 27, 29 and 31. The historic Test is scheduled to be played in Dhaka from April 4.
Bangladesh have rested the experienced Mahmudullah for the first two ODIs against Ireland. Uncapped Zakir Hasan has been included in the 16-member squad, which also sees the returns of Yasir Ali, Nasum Ahmed and Shoriful Islam. Taijul, who was picked in the ODI squad against England following Tamim Iqbal’s request, didn’t find a place in the squad.
Bangladesh are currently playing a T20I series against England and are 2-0 up with the final game to be played on March 14 in Dhaka.
