The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is scheduled to begin on March 31, as the defending champions Gujarat Titans take on four-time champions Chennai Super Kings in the season opener of the tournament.

With the world’s biggest T20 league returning to action soon, the craze to see legendary wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni heightens as well. Former Indian skipper Dhoni will be returning to action in the upcoming tournament and will be keen on leading CSK to a potential fifth IPL title.

As the four-time champions began their preparations for the forthcoming competition, spectators came swarming into the Chepauk to witness the team’s training session. As Dhoni took to the nets, fans’ excitement knew no bounds as the Chennai crowd, often reckoned as one of the best in the world, finally got to witness the skipper swirling his bat after a rather long wait of four years.

Much to the spectators’ joy, Dhoni hit his trademark shot to dispatch a delivery for a monstrous six during the training session. As the crowd went berserk over the spectacle of Dhoni hitting it out of the park, the reaction of batting coach Michael Hussey also got captured caught on camera.

Hussey broke into a smile after Dhoni hit the ball for a six and applauded the crowd for their impeccable reaction to the shot.

CSK will look to register their first win in a tough encounter against Gujarat Titans

Chennai Super Kings will kick off the upcoming IPL season as they take on the defending champions Gujarat Titans in the season opener of the competition on Friday, March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The Hardik Pandya-led GT will look for a repeat of their performances from the 2022 season, as they will be keen on establishing their dominance right from the first game and potentially winning their second IPL title. The side boasts a very strong line-up which would be a tough force to take on in the upcoming tournament.

CSK, on the other hand, would be looking to get back to their original tune and reimpose the dominance that the franchise has traditionally been known for. They reinforced their team at the auctions to plug all loopholes and with the practice sessions in place, the team would be keen to carry the vein forward and start off well with a win in the first match itself.
