Record 208 runs partnership between Cameron Green and Usman Khawaja ensured Australia be in the driver’s seat in what seemed to be very good track to bat on at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Australia completed the innings with 480 runs on the board in 167.2 overs. India batted the last 10 overs of the day, scored 36/0 and trail by 444 runs.

Speaking about how the day panned out, Australia came to day 2 with the scorecard reading 255/4. Cameron Green and Usman Khawaja batted out one half sessions adding 123 more runs to take the tally to 208 runs for the fifth wicket.

Khawaja amassed 180 and Green registered his first Test century scoring 114. Ravichandran Ashwin broke the good going partnership by picking up Green. A six-wicket haul from Ashwin only mitigated a part of the damage, as the Australian lower order batter put together more than 100 runs, which helped them post a massive total of 480 runs.
