Faf du Plessis, the skipper of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) left his fellow RCB teammate in splits during a recent event ahead of the team’s first Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 game.
On Sunday, April 2, RCB will face the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in their season opener at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, RCB will be coming into the IPL 2023 hoping to end their 15-year trophy drought in the lucrative league.
At the above-mentioned media event, du Plessis and former RCB captain Virat Kohli were seen sitting together. The South African batter was asked about the team’s goal this season. Responding to it, du Plessis tried stating RCB fans’ slogan, ‘Ee Sala Cup Namde’ which means – ‘This year the cup is ours’. Meanwhile, instead of saying Namde, du Plessis said ‘Ee Sala Cup Nahi,’ which made everyone laugh including Kohli.
Later, du Plessis discussed about the IPL 2023 and stated that he has complete faith in his team. The 38-year-old went on to say that his team has a good chance of winning the tournament this year.
“I think we as a team are extremely grateful and we are ready for the season. One thing I can promise you from a player’s perspective is we can take it all the way this time,” du Plessis said.
