In the fourth and final Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, youngster Shubman Gill played some phenomenal cricket, scoring his second ton in the longest format of the game. Courtesy of his brilliant knock on Day 3 of the match, India are set to get back on track after a tough couple of days.

Now, while talking to Cheteshwar Pujara after the match, Gill revealed that the wicket was great to bat on and he didn’t want to miss out on the opportunity to score a century. He also revealed that since Narendra Modi Stadium is his home ground in the Indian Premier League (IPL), it was special for him to get some runs under his belt in Ahmedabad.

“Honestly, I was thinking that I don’t know when I will get a wicket like this. I didn’t want to miss this opportunity by playing a bad shot. That was going in my mind. I was still trying to be positive, keep looking for singles and that’s what we were talking about when we were batting that keep looking for singles and whenever the bowler bowls a bad ball, just go for the shot,” the 23-year-old stated in a video upload by the BCCI.

“I mean I have to you know. This is my IPL home ground and I am glad to be able to get some runs under my belt on this ground,” Gill added.

Notably, during his innings, it was seen that the opener was struggling with his cramps but later in the day, he clarified that it was not a problem for him and that getting cramps is a good thing as it proves that you are doing well.

“We had to field for almost 160 overs and then to be able to bat the whole day, I was getting cramps, but if you are getting some runs it means you are on a good page and you should always get cramps, cause then you know you are doing well,” Gill concluded.
