When it comes to stumpings in the game of cricket, there is arguably no other wicketkeeper better than India’s Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The former India skipper is known for his lightning speed behind the stumps and has won many hearts across the globe due to his brilliant glovework. Dhoni has produced remarkable performances with his quick stumpings and no-look dismissals throughout his career.

Meanwhile, a video of an excellent stumping has surfaced on social media, which can also impress the legendary Indian wicketkeeper. The stumping effort was pulled off by an Australian cricketer named Jay Lenton during a Sydney club cricket match. Moreover, social media users are deeming it as the ‘greatest stumping of all time.’

In the video, it can be seen that the wicketkeeper Lenton easily grabbed it. However, not in a serious attempt, Lenton quickly threw the ball toward the stumps and surprisingly, it cannoned into the stumps.

Jay Lenton talks about the dismissal

During the match, the dismissal was first counted as a run-out, with the official match scorers originally mentioning it as the same. But after a conversation with the umpires, the unusual dismissal was eventually changed to stumping.

“I noticed he moved forward a bit and I threw the ball in hope more than anything…I didn’t think of it working at all. As soon as it hit the stumps it all clicked that it might just be out and it was,” Lenton told Yahoo Sport Australia.

“There was a bit of confusion (about the mode of dismissal) and the scorers had it down as a run out, but it was definitely a stumping and they changed it. I’ve had a few stumpings in my career but nothing like that,” he added.

The video has taken the internet by storm and is being shared across several social media platforms by netizens because of its novelty.
