Lara is the mentor of the West Indies

West Indies are not doing well at twenty-two yards. The Caribbean has not been able to show their charismatic play the cricket they know for a long time. Even going to the ICC tournament, they got a totally devastating result. In such a situation, the West Indies Cricket Board approached Brian Lara. West Indies has appointed this legendary cricketer as a performance mentor.

Lara will start working for the West Indies team from the Test series against Zimbabwe. Basically, his job will be to give strategic advice to the cricketers and coaches. Of course, Lara will not only work for the national team. He will also work with the West Indies Cricket Board Academy. Recently, the country board said these things in a statement in the media.

West Indies Cricket Board Director, Jimmy Adams is also relieved to have  Lara. In an interview, Adams said, “We are lucky to have Lara in our team. The advice he will give to our players and coaches is very important to us. He will give advice and motivation to the players. I look forward to his work in our team.”

Lara is very excited to get the opportunity to work as a mentor for his country. This Caribbean legend also told how capable he is in this responsibility. In this context, Lara said, “It is always a pleasure to be able to work for my country. Earlier I worked with different players and coaches. Now I feel that I can help mentally and strategically to some extent. One time wearing the national jersey and contributing to the country. I got the opportunity to keep it, now I will try to give my best in the new role.”

Meanwhile, time will tell how much the West Indies team will turn around on Lara’s advice. But after learning from the last T20 World Cup debacle, Adams has been cautious in advance for the upcoming ODI World Cup. West Indies are desperate to do well in the ODI World Cup to be held in India. While the Caribbean once ruled the T20 format, they no longer have that dominance. However, cricket fans are looking forward to seeing how much success the team gets with Lara.
