IPL 2022 – Match 08 (KKR vs PBKS)
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have got a win the 8th match of IPL 2022 against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday with 6 wickets and 33 balls to spare, thanks to Andre Russell’s devastating innings. After losing the toss and getting to bat first, PBKS were bowled out for 137 runs in 18.2 overs by the outstanding bowling of the KKR’s bowlers.
For PBKS, wicketkeeper-batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa played a stormy innings of 31 runs off 9 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. Kagiso Rabada returned with 25 off 16 balls and Liam Livingstone returned with 19 off 16 balls. For KKR, Umesh Yadav took the maximum number of 4 wickets with 23 runs in 4 overs. Besides, Tim Southee took 2 wickets. Russell, Sunil Narine, and Shivam Mavi took 1 wicket each.
Chasing an easy target of 138 runs, KKR lost 4 wickets to score 51 runs at the end of 7 overs. From there, KKR won the match within the next 7.3 overs. In an unbroken fifth-wicket partnership, Wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Billings and all-rounder Russell scored 90 off just 45 balls.
Russell scored an unbeaten 70 off 31 balls with two fours and eight sixes. On the other hand, Billings remained unbeaten on 24 off 23 balls. Rahul Chahar’s excellent bowling went in vain due to Russell’s great bowling. For PBKS, the legspinner took two wickets for just 13 runs in 4 overs, including one maiden.
However, despite such stormy batting, Russell did not win the player of the match award. Because Umesh Yadav was selected as the player of the match by bowling his career-best figure in the match’s first innings, after winning this match, Kolkata Knight Riders have risen to the top of the points table. On the other hand, Punjab Kings are now in the 7th position in the points table after losing.

SA vs BAN (1st Test – Day 2)
At the end of the second day of the first Test of the two-match series at Kingsmead in Durban, the visiting Bangladesh scored 98 runs for 4 wickets in 49 overs. The Tigers are still 269 runs behind the hosts’ 367 runs. To avoid the follow-on, they have to score 70 more runs.
South Africa finished the first day with 233 runs for 4 wickets and entered the field with Temba Bavuma (53*) and Kyle Verreynne (27*) on the second day morning. Fast bowler Khaled Ahmed struck twice at the beginning of the day. Khaled broke the 65-run partnership with Bavuma by trapping Verreynne (28) in the leg before. In the next ball, Mahmudul Hasan Joy took a great catch on the slip produced by new batsman Wiaan Mulder (0). Mehidy Hasan sent off Bavuma to the pavilion from the edge of the century.

Bangladesh got off to a good start by batting in the 1st innings. Shadman Islam got a place in the squad due to Tamim Iqbal’s sudden illness, but he could not take advantage of it. The left-arm opener returned to the dressing room with 9 runs after being bowled by Simon Harmer in the third ball of the 11th over. The Tea break was given after he got dismissed.
After that, Najmul Hossain Shanto made a great partnership of 55 runs from 160 balls with Mahmudul Hasan Joy. Night Watchman Taskin Ahmed came to the wicket to finish the remaining 1 over of the day. Finally, Mahmudul finished unbeaten on 44 and Taskin on 0 to end the second day’s play.
