Kiwi rookie Finn Allen tests positive for Covid-19 on arrival in Bangladesh

The New Zealand team has arrived in Bangladesh to play a five-match T20I series. But before the team’s arrival, Finn Allen and Colin de Grandhomme arrived in Bangladesh on August 20. They both played ‘The Hundred’ tournament in England and went directly to Bangladesh on an Emirates Airlines flight. From then on, they were in isolation in their hotel rooms. Recently between these two, Finn Allen has tested positive for Covid-19.

The New Zealand Cricket (NZC) confirmed that Finn Allen has been tested positive for Covid-19 after his arrival in Bangladesh despite he was tested negative in all the necessary tests 48 hours before boarding the flight from England.

In the statement, NZC disclosed that Allen was fully vaccinated, and has mild symptoms. Besides, there is no big problem. He is currently receiving treatment under the BCB.

BCB chief medical officer Debashish Chowdhury who is regularly in touch with New Zealand team doctor Pat McHugh, is providing treatment to Allen. Mike Sandle, the New Zealand team manager, said that the BCB is providing the highest medical treatment to Allen and hopes that the batsman will recover quickly; test negative  and can be rejoin the team as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the members of the Kiwi team who went to Bangladesh are quarantined at their team hotel for three days. They will undergo two rounds for Covid-19 tests until they take to the field on September 1. To rejoin the rest of the team, Allen will have to get tested negative twice in the Covid-19 tests.

However, New Zealand has not announced anyone’s name to replace Allen. Kiwi team manager Mike Sandle expressed his gratitude to the BCB for taking the matter seriously.
