Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, the big names in Indian cricket, have been suffering from their batting for some days. Their batting failure in the last IPL caught everyone’s attention. As if these stars are not able to do justice to their names at all. Former India World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev has made explosive remarks about these cricketers this time. He has sharply criticized the star batsmen of Indian cricket.
Kapil said on YouTube show Uncut that there is no benefit in becoming a big star if you can’t do justice to your name. “They have a reputation as big players, which may put them under pressure,” the former captain said of Rohit-Kohli. “Although that is not supposed to happen. In fact, you have to play fearless cricket, ” he added.
Kapil further added: “They can all score at a strike rate of 150-160. But whenever we need a run from them, they become out. After a slow 20-25 runs, when it comes time to pull the innings, they become out. It puts pressure on the team, either as an anchor or as a striker.”
“I think the application strategy needs to be changed. If it doesn’t work, it’s time to change him (player) and move on. Great performances are expected from a great player. Being a great player is not enough, you have to perform.”
Kapil also criticized Rahul separately. He said, ”Look at KL Rahul, if the team asks him to come and play the whole 20 overs, and if you score 80-90 then that’s fine. The rest of the run will be done by other batsmen. But if you are not out for 60 runs, then you are not doing justice to the team at all.”
