Joe Root is currently one of the best batsmen on the cricket field. But under his leadership, England lost one Test after another. He finally gave up the leadership due to continuous failure. However, the power of his bat did not decrease so much. On the contrary, the batsman turned out to be even better in the Test series against New Zealand. Root won the first match with the bat after leaving the lead.

The question is, how did Root take his batting to another level? The former England captain did not open his mouth about this. But Matt Root, Root’s father, has revealed that secret. Root has improved his batting by using the lockdown time during the pandemic. According to Matt, Root used to practice batting on one leg to increase his balance.

Matt said, ”Root practiced hard during the lockdown. He has practiced batting for hours every day in his academy. He used to practice on one leg to increase his balance. He used to bat against some bowlers of the academy. Root loves to bat and never gets tired. He has loved batting from a young age. Root loves to do this. ”

Root has reached a unique milestone in the first match of the ongoing Test series against New Zealand. He became the second English cricketer to enter the elite club with 10,000 (ten thousand) Test runs. He has surpassed Sunil Gavaskar with his century in the second Test. Root’s current position is twelfth on the list of highest run-getter in Test history.

Sachin Tendulkar is another cricketing star. He is the highest run-scorer in Tests with 15,921 runs. He has scored this run in 200 matches. On the other hand, he has scored 10,194 runs from 119 Tests. At present, the 31-year-old Root is likely to surpass their achievements. If he can keep up with the pace at which they are advancing, it is not difficult to surpass Sachin’s record incredibly.
