Mominul Haque has left the leadership of the Test team due to the failure of the team. This time, maybe he is afraid of being dropped from the team. Mominul plays only in Test format. The burden of leadership fell on his shoulders in 2019. Since then, Mominul seems to have forgotten the batting. The team lost in one match after another, only the Mount Manganui Test is on the list of successes.

After the collapse of the Sri Lanka series at home a few days ago, the chapter of captain Mominul officially ended. A big responsibility has come down from his hands, but Mominul’s bat is not smiling. Mominul scored 0 and 4 in the two innings of the first Test of the Windies tour. In the last 16 innings, he has touched double digits only 3 times, where he has met fifty 12 innings ago.

With Mominul’s off form, the new Test captain Shakib Al Hasan thinks that after the captaincy, Mominul will have to decide on his own batting this time. In order to get out of the circle of continuous failure, Mominul has to decide whether he needs rest or not. However, the captain is by the side of one of the most experienced batsmen on the team in difficult times.

Shakib said, ”It is difficult for me to say. Whatever it is, we always talk to him. Talk to you soon. If he thinks he needs a break, then … he can take it. Now it’s not a good idea to make a decision right just after a match. We have a break. Then when I shall practice in St. Lucia, I shall think about what will be good for our team. ”

Recently the entire top order of the team, including Mominul, failed. In such a situation, Shakib’s tactical comment about the change in the team for the second Test is like this. ”You can’t guarantee that something very good will happen if you change too much. Speaking of stats, in 13-14-15 innings how many innings I have lost 4/5 wickets below 100? Thinking from that place, there are many problems. It is possible to get out of here and come back with team effort.”
