Is Mickey Arthur ready to take over as Pakistan’s head coach?

পাকিস্তানের নতুন কোচ হয়ে আসছেন মিকি আর্থার?

Within a few days, there have been several changes in the Pakistan Cricket Board. Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Ramiz Raza has been removed from the post and Nazam Shetty has been given new responsibility. He started working after receiving the responsibility. This time there will be a change in the position of the coach of Pakistan. It is heard that he will appoint the new coach of Pakistan very soon. But there is no new one, there is an old one coming.

After taking charge, Sethi dissolved the old selection committee. Shahid Afridi has been made the head of the selection committee there. Abdur Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum are assistants of Afridi. Afridi took charge and brought changes to Pakistan’s Test team again. And now it is natural that there will be changes in different parts of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Even then, Pakistan does not have a permanent coach. Off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq is in charge of the team as interim coach. But now it is said that Sethi will appoint a new coach. Mickey Arthur is rumoured to be the new coach of Pakistan. However, he is not new, he was also in charge of coaching the Pakistan team. From May 6, 2016, to August 7, 2019, he coached Pakistan.

Arthur is now in charge of the English county team Derbyshire. But his contract there will expire soon. On the other hand, the Pakistan board’s contract with Pakistan’s interim coach Saqlain will also expire in February. So there is a possibility of Arthur becoming the coach of the Pakistan team. According to Pakistani news sources, Arthur is also known to have responded positively to the Pakistan Board’s offer.

It is to be noted that Pakistan had great success in the coaching of South African Sakek earlier. Under his coaching, Pakistan raised to the top of the Test rankings in 2016. He won the Champions Trophy title in the ODI edition the very next year. The next year also saw great success in Pakistan. Pakistan was the number 1 team in T20 cricket that year.

Apart from Pakistan, Arthur has also coached South Africa and Australia. He was in charge of coaching the South African national team from 2005 to 2010. Arthur then coached the Australian national team until June 23, 2013. Let’s see if Arthur takes charge of the Pakistan team again and if he gets successful even after taking charge.
