LSG vs GT Match Highlights
Gujarat Titans (GT) has picked up an emphatic 62-run victory with a great bowling performance over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 57th match of IPL 2022 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Tuesday. GT has also confirmed the play-offs as the first team of the tournament after winning the match.
After winning the toss, GT captain Hardik Pandya decided to bat and sent LSG to bowl first. GT’s run rate slowed down from the start with controlled bowling by LSG bowlers. They could make only 59 runs in the first 10 overs. However, they turned around a bit and added another 85 runs to the scoreboard in the last 10 overs.
In the power play, GT lost wickets of in-form batsmen Wriddhiman Saha (5 off 11 balls) and Matthew Wade (10 off 7 balls). Captain Hardik could not do much. Before returning as the third batsman, he played 13 balls and scored only 11 runs.
However, opener Shubman Gill, who was holding on to one end, continued to lead the team. On the fourth wicket, he made a partnership of 52 runs with David Miller. Miller was dismissed for just 26 off 24 balls. Later, Rahul Tewatia and Shubman made 41 runs in the last 4 overs in an unbroken partnership.
As a result, GT lost 4 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and scored 144 runs. Playing from start to finish, Gill remained unbeaten on 63 off 49 balls. Where he struck 7 fours. Tewatia hit 22 off 16 balls with 4 fours.
For LSG, Avesh Khan took the maximum number of 2 wickets for 26 runs in 4 overs. Besides, Mohsin Khan and Jason Holder took one wicket each.
Chasing an easy target of 145 runs, LSG were bowled out for 82 in just 13.5 overs by the aggressive bowling of GT’s bowlers. KL Rahul’s team has been all out for their lowest total in the whirlwind magic of Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore. As a result, GT has got a play-off ticket with an easy victory of 62 runs.
Deepak Hooda scored the highest 27 runs for LSG. Apart from Avesh Khan (12) and Quinton de Kock (11), no one else could make a double-digit score. Only 7 fours and 3 sixes were seen in the entire innings.
Rashid showed his magic with the ball. He scalped the highest number of 4 wickets conceding only 24 runs in 3.5 overs. Yash Dayal and Sai Kishore took 2 wickets each. Where Sai Kishore gave only 7 runs in 2 overs. Besides, Mohammed Shami bowled 3 overs and took 1 wicket with only 5 runs.
Gujarat Titans have regained the top spot of the table with 9 wins and 3 losses and they’ve earned 18 points in 12 matches. On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants are now second in the standings with 16 points securing 8 wins and getting defeated on 4 occasions after taking part in 12 matches.
