DC vs KKR Match Highlights
On Thursday, in the 41st match of IPL 2022, courtesy of the impeccable performance of bowlers at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, Delhi Capitals (DC) picked up a victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 4 wickets. At the same time, after winning this match, DC got its 4th victory.
After winning the toss, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant decided to bowl and invited the Kolkata Knight Riders to bat. Kolkata’s score did not grow much with the great bowling of Tiger Cutter Master, and Shreyas Iyer’s team stopped at 146 runs for 9 wickets.
In the first over, Captain Rishabh Pant handed over the ball to Mustafizur Rahman. Mustafizur made a great start to the power play, and he gave only 2 runs in that over.
In the next over, Rishabh Pant called another left-arm Chetan Sakaria. In his first match for Delhi, Chetan got the wicket in his first over, and Finch was bowled in the third ball. Kolkata Knight Riders made only 6 runs by losing 1 wicket in 2 overs.
It became difficult to cope with the initial push when Kolkata lost 4 wickets for 35 runs. In the fifth over of the innings, Axar Patel returned Venkatesh Iyer (6) to the dressing room. In the eighth over, Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets with Baba Indrajith (6) and Sunil Narine (0).
Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana then took the responsibility of pulling the team from the great danger. Adding 48 off 33 balls, in the 14th over, Kuldeep broke the pair with his stupendous bowling.
When Shreyas (42 off 37 balls) touched the ball lightly with the bat, Pant took an excellent catch behind the wicket. After two balls in the same over, Andre Russell (0) fell into the trap of stamping and went down the wicket. Kolkata lost 6 wickets for 83 runs.
Standing in such a place, Nitish Rana formed the storm. Making the last spell in the 18th over, Mostafiz gave 10 runs with two boundaries. In the first ball of the next over, Rana hit a six off Shardul Thakur and picked up the fifty off 30 balls.
Rovman Powell caught Rinku Singh (23 off 16 balls) in the second ball of the innings’ last over. In the next ball, Umesh Yadav somehow took a run.
In the fourth ball, Mostafiz took the wicket of Rana, and Sakaria caught him at the boundary. The left-arm batsman made 57 off 34 balls with 3 boundaries and 4 sixes. In the next ball, Mostafiz bowled Tim Southee using a great yorker.
Mostafiz took 3 wickets with only 18 runs in 4 overs. Kuldeep Yadav took 4 wickets for 14 runs.
The goal was not too big. However, despite chasing the target of 147 runs, the Delhi Capitals were afraid of losing.
David Warner kept the team on the right track despite losing Prithvi Shaw (0) and Mitchell Marsh (13 off 7 balls) in 17 runs. But in the tenth over, Umesh Yadav picked up Warner’s wicket (42 off 26 balls), and Delhi suddenly lost track.
3 wickets were lost in two runs. Among them was captain Rishav Pant (2). All-rounder Axar Patel then led the team from danger to some good place. Kolkata’s hopes were restored after he was run out in the last ball of the 15th over (24 off 17 balls).
But Rovman Powell has dashed that hope. The Caribbean batsman hit 3 sixes with a four in an innings of 33 off 16 balls. He left the field after the team won.
The most successful bowler among Kolkata bowlers was Umesh Yadav. He took 3 wickets for 24 runs.
Delhi Capitals are at 6th place in the points table with 4 wins and 4 losses in eight matches. On the other hand, with 3 wins and 6 losses in nine matches, Kolkata Knight Riders are now in the 8th position of the standings.
