The South African cricket team arrived in India on June 2 to play a five-match T20 series. The series is important for both teams ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup. The first match of the series will be played on June 9 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in India.
The Proteas are continuing to practice towards that goal. The spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have become the cause of concern for the Proteas in this series. So, they are planning differently with these two.
The pair were a source of concern for the batsmen in the just-concluded IPL. Being the highest wicket-taker of the event, Chahal has got the purple cap of IPL. On the other hand, Kuldeep has taken 21 wickets in Delhi Jersey. Proteas captain Temba Bavuma said that the Proteas are having a different plan with these two.
“We have played against them (Kuldeep and Chahal) more than once in the past,” he said. ” Now I hope we know them better than before. We are personally planning to stop them; we are discussing about them in the team meeting, ” he added.
Mentioning that the series is important for their youngsters as well, the South African captain added: “It is very important for the youngsters in the team how they can learn good things from the seniors. However, the way they have practiced slow bowling in the last 18 months, we as a team are sure that we will be able to stop India’s spin this time.”
