The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has an equal eye not only on current stars but also on former cricketers. The board has decided to increase the pensions of the country’s former male and female cricketers. At the same time, the salaries of umpires have also been increased. The BCCI has said that the increased pension will be given from July.

So far, Indian cricketers have received pensions in five steps. Those who only played first-class cricket received a pension of Rs 15,000. From now onwards, that pension has been doubled to Rs 30,000. Cricketers who retired from first-class cricket before 2003 received Rs 22,500. It has now been raised to Rs 45,000.

Former women cricketers get a pension of Rs 30,000. They will get Rs 52,500 from next July. The pension of former Test cricketers has been increased from Rs 37,500 to Rs 60,000. In addition, cricketers playing for India in both white and red ball formats will get a pension of Rs 70,000 per month under the new rules.

In this regard, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said, “It is the responsibility of the board to look after the financial well-being of former cricketers. It is our duty to stand by them after the end of their cricket life. The umpires are the heroes behind the scenes. The BCCI has taken this step keeping in mind their contribution. ”

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has confirmed this matter. He stated that their main job is to look after the welfare of the cricketers, whether current or former. That is the path they have taken. The way umpires have served Indian cricket over the years deserves this honor. A total of 900 former players and umpires will be benefited.
