Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is now in Sylhet. And Sylhet Strikers are playing as hosts there. However, the team disappointed the supporters in the first match at home. But later Sylhet led by Mashrafe Bin Murtaza returned to the rhythm. They have already confirmed the playoffs as the first team by defeating Chittagong Challengers. And in this match, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, who was in form with the bat, got punished.
Shanto got off to a great start chasing a challenging target against Chittagong. From the beginning of the innings, he scored a half-century with fluent batting. Although he did not bat aggressively in this match. However, Nahidul Islam added 60 runs off 44 balls before being stamped. But as he could not finish the match, he lost his temper after getting out.
Disappointment can be seen on Shanto’s face while getting out and leaving the field. In front of the dressing room, however, that disappointment turned into anger. That anger isn’t on anyone else, though. Shanto took out his anger on himself for being stamped. He threw the helmet. Then he also threw the bat. That is why Sylhet’s opener has been punished.
Shanto’s behaviour was not taken well by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The left-handed batsman has broken BCB Code of Conduct clause 2.2 by losing his temper. Due to this, a demerit point has been added to his name as punishment. Although he was not fined any kind of money. Meanwhile, since Shanto pleaded guilty, a formal hearing was not required. Meanwhile, when the video of Shanto losing his temper spread on social media, many people criticized this batter.
Shanto is in great rhythm with the bat in this year’s BPL. His bat has been instrumental in most of Sylhet’s wins in the tournament. So far, Shanto has collected a total of 350 runs by batting in 9 innings. He is batting at a strike rate of 117.05 in the tournament. So far in the list of run collectors, this cricketer of Team Bangladesh is at the top. Since his team has reached the last four, he will get several more matches. He will surely want to play well there too.
