New Zealand will face India in the World Test Championship (WTC) final at Southampton’s Hampshire on June 18. Discussions and debates are already in full swing over who will win the Test championship title as the first team. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the prize money for the final of the tournament.
Being the best in the Tests is undoubtedly a matter of immense pride. So, everyone expected that the prize money for winning this tournament would be in line with the standard of the tournament. Without disappointing them, the ICC has announced huge prize money.
The ICC said that the prize money for the winning team in the final would be 1.6 million US dollars. There will also be a mesmerizing trophy. On the other hand, the runners-up team will get half of the money, i.e. 0.8 million US dollars.
However, if the match is drawn for any reason, a total of 2.4 million US dollars will be divided between the two teams. In that case, both India and New Zealand will get 1.2 million US dollars as the final winners.
Australia, which finished third in the points table of the Test Championship, is getting 450,000 US dollars. England will get 350,000 US dollars as fourth, and Pakistan will get 200,000 US dollars in fifth place. The last four teams in the points list – South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh will receive 100,000 US dollars for each team.
By the way, Bangladesh has lost 6 out of 7 matches under the Test Championship and has drawn a match. As a result, the Tigers finished at the bottom of the points list.
