Bangladesh played the only warm-up match before the Test series. Bangladesh has been well prepared for that match against West Indies President’s XI at Coolidge Cricket Ground. Ebadot Hossain, one of the star pacers of the team thinks so.
At the end of the match, Ebadot said, ”Alhamdulillah, we played a three-day practice match. The preparation has been very good. Our batsmen have done very well. Tamim Bhai has done one and a half-century, and Shanto has done fifty. Everyone has done well in our batting order. ”
Bangladesh lost 6 wickets in the first innings and declared the innings at 310 runs. They also scored 47 runs for 1 wicket in the second innings. The Tigers have taken 8 wickets in the first innings. Tamim, the best opener of the team, has completed the best preparation by playing an unbeaten inning of 162 runs from 287 balls. However, Test specialist batsman Mominul Haque could not get out of the circle of failure.
The bowlers didn’t do too badly either. Mustafizur Rahman did not land on the first two days but as soon as he landed on the last day, he struck a double blow. He took 3 wickets in 6 overs. Besides, Ebadot Hossain took three wickets. Though captain Shakib Al Hasan did not play in the warm-up match, he did practice net separately.
The performance of the other bowlers was not notable. Fast bowlers Khaled Ahmed and Rejaur Rahman Raja took one wicket each. However, it may be a matter of concern that two expert spinners Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam remain wicketless. Part-timers also did not have success. The first Test between the two sides will start on June 16 in Antigua.
