Grandhomme bid farewell to international cricket

Colin de Grandhomme announced his retirement from international cricket. The New Zealand star all-rounder announced his retirement in a statement.

In the statement given by New Zealand Cricket, Grandhomme said, ”I accept that I am not getting any younger. Training regularly is getting harder, especially with injuries. Besides I have a family, trying to think about life after cricket”.

At the time of farewell, love for the country was expressed on Grandhomme’s face. Talking about his illustrious career, he said, ”After debuting in 2012, I feel lucky to have played for New Zealand. I am proud of my international career. But I think now is the right time to say goodbye.”

Grandhomme scored 100 runs and 49 wickets in 29 Tests in New Zealand’s jersey in a decade-long career. Besides, he scored 742 runs in 45 ODIs and took 30 wickets. In addition, this all-rounder has 505 runs and 12 wickets from 41 matches in T20 cricket.

It may be noted that Grandhomme was an important member of the New Zealand team that won the ICC Test Championship title by defeating India in 2021. Earlier, the aggressive all-rounder represented the Kiwis in the 2019 ODI World Cup final against England, a day when New Zealand’s dreams were broken.
