Focusing more on franchise cricket, Flower turns down the PCB offer to coach the Pakistan cricket team

Famous cricket legend Andy Flower has turned down an offer to become the head coach of the Pakistan cricket team. The former Zimbabwean cricketer has said that he does not want to take charge of any international team due to his busy schedule.

According to the media, Ehsan Mani, the outgoing chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), wanted to replace current head coach Misbah-ul-Haq. The PCB was leaning towards Flower, especially after the T20I series loss to England.

Now, Flower is the head coach of Multan Sultans in PSL, St. Lucia Kings in CPL, Delhi Bulls in T-10 League, and Trent Rockets in The Hundred. He is also the assistant coach of the IPL team Punjab Kings. So he has no desire to take charge of the national team.

After the denial from Flower, it has become very difficult for Pakistan to find another foreign coach. However, even if Mani’s tenure is over, Misbah will not be able to rest assured about his job as the new chairman Ramiz Raja is also in favor of appointing a foreign coach.

According to Pakistani media sources, Misbah is unlikely to be relieved of his duties before the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Because if they do so, the new coach will not get much time to make a good understanding with the team. So at least until November, Misbah will still be seen in this position.
