Fixtures for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 to be announced on 21st January

The fixtures for the next year’s ICC T20 World Cup in Australia will be revealed on January 21, 2022. Although it is usually a biennial tournament, it was impossible to hold the tournament in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and was later held in 2021. As a result, cricket fans are now getting the opportunity to enjoy this tournament for two consecutive years.

The 2021 edition of the ICC T20 World Cup moved to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman due to the deteriorating situation in India’s Covid-19, which was successfully ended in November. Aaron Finch’s Australia won their first title by defeating Kane Williamson’s New Zealand in the final in this edition of the ICC T20 World Cup.

The ICC has already confirmed that the next edition will be held between October 16 and November 13 next year at seven venues – Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, and Perth. A total of 45 matches are set to be played during the T20 World Cup next year.

On December 6 (Monday), the ICC issued a statement stating that the mega event of T20 cricket is less than 11 months away, and the fixtures for the same are likely to be announced by January 21, 2022. ICC also reported that tickets are going on sale to the public on February 7, 2022, and the fans can make their plans according to the fixtures on which match they should attend.

The Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) and Adelaide Oval are going to stage the two semi-final matches of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 that will be played on November 9 and 10 respectively. The tournament’s final match will be held on November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 Champion Australia and runners-up New Zealand alongside India, England, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and South Africa (as the next highest-ranked teams) will have the chance to play directly in the Super 12 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

Sri Lanka, West Indies, Namibia, and Scotland will take part in Round 1. Four more teams from the qualifiers will feature in Round 1. The ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers matches will be held in Oman in February 2022 and in Zimbabwe in June-July.
