This year’s Asia Cup failure has created a hue and cry in the country’s cricket. A large section of Bangladeshi cricket fans is criticizing Team Bangladesh. Many people are mocking cricketers on social media. Due to the injuries of Liton Das and Sohan, Mushfiqur Rahim did keep for the team in the Asia Cup.

But he could not meet the expectations of the team. As he was a failure with the bat, he went from hero to villain to many cricket fans by dropping catches. Discussion and criticism started on social media.

Meanwhile, the former national team captain announced his retirement from international T20 on September 4. He announced his retirement with a status on his Facebook page.

It created mixed reactions in the country’s cricket. As many people welcomed his retirement, many fans were also disappointed. Many fans are on hunger strike for Mushfiqur’s return to international T20. Cricket lovers observed a symbolic fast in front of gate 2 of Mirpur Stadium.

A fan named Sajedur Rahman, the hunger strike organiser, believes Mushfiq is still capable of doing well. He also thinks it is inappropriate to take this decision now as the World Cup is ahead. About Mushfiq’s retirement, this fan said, “Mushfiq is a very emotional person. Maybe that’s why he announced his retirement in criticism. T20 is ahead. If he has to retire, he should leave the field after playing the World Cup.”

Another fan of Mushfiq said, “We are all fasting for the love of Mushfiq. Everyone who came loves Mushfiq.”

However, Mushfiq has not said anything about this yet. He is still adamant about his decision to retire. Despite retiring from T20, Mushfiqur announced to continue Test and ODI cricket in his status. Now it’s time to see if he can be seen again in T20 cricket in the World Cup by responding to the fans’ calls.
