David Miller is one of the key players in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Gujarat Titans (GT). The South African star returned to the country to spend time with his family after winning the title. He had to catch an Indian flight again a few days later to play a five-match T20 series between India and South Africa.
Miller was in a great rhythm for Gujarat in this year’s IPL. He has won many matches by batting aggressively. He also lifted up the lost matches by superhuman batting. The devastating batsman also contributed with the bat in the final. This time, those IPL teammates are Miller’s opponents. And against them, Miller’s capital is the experience of the IPL.
Miller said: ”I understand my game a lot better now. I am also learning how to cope with stress. ” He has scored a total of 481 runs in this year’s IPL. In the last four matches, Miller became the complete finisher of Gujarat. The star cricketer commented that he was feeling positive even before the IPL. He said, ”Had confidence that I would get runs. If I bat in the middle order, I try to stay till the end, ” he added.
Miller is reluctant to accept the question of whether the IPL performance will increase the pressure on him. The left-arm batsman said, ”I don’t have any extra pressure on my shoulders.” He added that all international matches have to be played under pressure. Seniors and juniors all have pressure. It does not decrease even with experience. However, experience helps to cope with stress.
Revealing the mystery of the recent series, Miller said, “I did nothing different. Now I understand my game much better. I’ve been playing for so long. I have become more mature. Yet sometimes it feels stressful. Negative thoughts come. But now I can handle the pressure better than before.” And for sure, we can see his remarkable results in the game.
