Titans and Warriors were confronted in the 11th match of the CSA T20 Challenge 2021at the Kingsmead (Durban) on Wednesday afternoon, February 24. The Warriors won by a huge margin of 43 runs against their opponent Titans.
Warriors captain Sinethemba Qeshile decided to bat after winning the toss and sent the Titans to field first.
Batting first, the Warriors lost four wickets to score 33 runs in 7 overs. In the fourth over, Lizaad Williams took two wickets in a row. Then Triston Stubbs and Wihan Lubbe brought them back into the match. They put on 54 runs for the fifth wicket. As a result, the Warriors were dreaming of returning to the match again. When Wihan Lubbe (35) returned for 87 runs, Triston Stubbs teamed up with Ayabulela Gqamane. Later, in their combined efforts, the Warriors lost nine wickets and scored 157 runs. Triston Stubbs (44) and Ayabulela Gqamane (37) scored well for the team. Chris Morris, Lizaad Williams, and Okuhle Cele took two wickets each for the Titans.
Coming down to chase 158 runs, opener Henry Davids fell victim to the LBW trap and returned to the dressing room in the first over. But later they managed to make a comeback. The Titans lost one wicket in six overs of the power play and picked up 36 runs. When Dean Elgar (16) returned, Aiden Markram with Sibonelo Makhanya led the team to victory. When Aiden Markram returned with the team total of 63 runs, the Titans collapsed like a house of cards. They lost six wickets to score the last 46 runs. Warrior’s bowler Mthiwekhaya Nabe broke the batting backbone of the Titans. The Titans lost 9 wickets scoring 114 runs in his great spell. Aiden Markram (31) scored the highest run for the team. Mthiwekhaya Nabe was the star for the Warriors (4-21, 4 overs) with the ball.
The Warriors have climbed up to fourth place in the points table after winning this match. On the other hand, the Titans are dropped down to third place in the points table after losing the match.
