Cricket Highlights, 5 Mar: IND vs ENG (4th Test-Day 2), NZ vs AUS (4th T20), RSWS T20 (2020-21) Match 5

 

The 5th match of the Road Safety World Series T20 2020-21 between Bangladesh Legends & India Legends, the second day of the fourth Test between India & England, and the fourth T20I between New Zealand & Australia took place yesterday. Let’s have a look to learn about the exciting moments of them.

RSWS T20 (2020-21) Match 5 (India Legends vs Bangladesh Legends)

An exciting match was played between India Legends and Bangladesh Legends in the fifth match of RSWS T20 (2020-21) at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium (Raipur) on Friday (March 5) night. India Legends won the match by a huge margin of 10 wickets against their rival, Bangladesh Legends. After winning the toss, the batsmen of Bangladesh Legends could not stand tall in front of the bowlers of Indian Legends.

In the end, Bangladesh Legends lost all their wickets and were bowled out for 109 runs. Nazimuddin (49) scored the highest runs for the team. Pragyan Ojha, Yuvraj Singh, and Vinay Kumar took 2 wickets each for the India legends. Two openers of the India Legends, Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar attacked the bowlers of Bangladesh Legends from the very beginning to chase down the target. Virender Sehwag’s devastating innings helped them to reach the winning port in 10.1 overs without losing a wicket. Virender Sehwag (80 off 35 balls) and Sachin Tendulkar (33 off 26 balls) scored runs for the team.

By winning this match, India Legends have retained the top spot in the points table. On the other hand, Bangladesh Legends are in the last place on the points table after losing.

IND vs ENG (4th Test – Day 1)

India lost 1 wicket scoring 24 runs at the end of the first day, came to the field on the second day with Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara at the crease. When Pujara returned to the dressing room scoring 17 runs, Indian captain Virat Kohli came on the wicket. But the batsman lost his wicket with zero runs after being caught by Ben Foakes in the delivery of Ben Stokes. After that Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin returned one by one but Rishabh Pant continued to bat with fierce. Rishabh Pant hit the third century of his career off 115 balls smashing an over boundary off England captain Joe Root. Before returning to the pavilion, he scored 101 off 118 balls smashing 13 fours and 2 sixes. Later, however, another batting all-rounder Washington picked up the third half-century of his beautiful career. After that, with Washington Sundar (60) and Axar Patel (11) on the wicket, India finished the second day’s play being 89 runs ahead of the visitors. England’s highest wicket-taker was James Anderson (3-40, 20 overs).

NZ vs AUS (4th T20)

In the 4th T20 match of the series, Australia and New Zealand met in a thrilling match at the Westpac Stadium (Wellington) on Friday night, March 5. Australia won by 50 runs against their opponent New Zealand. The Aussies won the toss and elected to bat first. They put on a respectable total losing six wickets & thanks to a devastating inning by Australian captain Aaron Finch. He scored an unbeaten 79 off 55 balls hitting 5 fours and 4 sixes to bring the team to 156 runs. New Zealand’s highest wicket-taker was Ish Sodhi (3-32, 4 overs). Batting in reply, the hosts were bowled out within 17.5 overs by the hosts. The Australian bowlers took all their wickets conceding 108 runs. Fast bowler Kyle Jamieson (30) scored the highest run for New Zealand. Kane Richardson took the most wickets for Australia (3-19, 2.5 overs). Australia won the match & level the T20 series (2-2). The last and final match of the series will be played on March 7 at the Westpac Stadium (Wellington).
