Cricket Highlights, 31 Oct: ICC Men’s T20 World Cup (Match 27 & 28)

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 – Match 27 (Afghanistan vs Namibia)

Afghanistan has got a win against Namibia by 62 runs in the 27th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium. Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first, they lost 5 wickets in 20 overs and collected 160 runs.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Shahzad played the highest innings of 45 playing 33 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes for the Afghans. Besides, Hazratullah Zazai scored 33, captain Mohammad Nabi 32, and Asghar Afghan 31 runs for the team. For Namibia, Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton and Ruben Trumpelmann took two wickets each. Besides, JJ Smit took 1 wicket.

Chasing a challenging target of 161, Namibia’s innings came to a halt at 98 after losing 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs due to the brilliant bowling of Afghan bowlers. David Wiese scored 26 runs for the team, which stood as the highest for them. Naveen-ul-Haq and Hamid Hassan took the maximum number of 3 wickets each for the Afghans. Gulbadin Naib took 2 wickets and Rashid Khan took 1 wicket each.

After winning this match, Afghanistan has risen to the second position in the points table of Group 2 in Super 12. Namibia, on the other hand, is 4th in the table after losing.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 – Match 28 (India vs New Zealand)

In the second match of the day, New Zealand picked up a huge 8 wickets win with 33 balls to spare in the low-scoring match against India at the Dubai International Stadium. After losing the toss and opting to bat first, India was able to score 110 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs of the Kiwi bowlers’ aggressive bowling.

Ravindra Jadeja scored 26 off 19 balls for the Men in Blues. Besides, Hardik Pandya scored 23 and KL Rahul 18 runs for the team. Trent Boult took the highest number of 3 wickets for the Black Caps. Ish Sodhi took 2 wickets and Tim Southee and Adam Milne took 1 wicket each.

Chasing an easy target of 111, Daryl Mitchell batted brilliantly and lost just two wickets in New Zealand to reach the port of victory in 14.3 overs. Mitchell played the best innings of 49 off 35 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes for the team. Captain Kane Williamson was unbeaten on 33 and Martin Guptill on 20 runs. For India, Jasprit Bumrah took the most number of 2 wickets.

After winning this match, New Zealand has risen to 3rd place in the points table of Group 2 in Super 12. On the other hand, India is in the 5th position in the points table with the second defeat in a row.
