Cricket Highlights, 30 Dec: SA vs IND (1st Test – Day 5)

The 5th day of the 1st Test between South Africa and India rolled on the field yesterday. Continue reading to grasp the exciting moments of the day’s games.

SA vs IND (1st Test – Day 5)

On the last day of the first Test match at SuperSport Park in Centurion, South Africa needed 211 runs and India needed six wickets to get the victory. India smiled at last between the cricket clash of these two teams. Virat Kohli’s team won the match by 113 runs and went ahead 1-0 in the three-match Test series.

South Africa’s target was 305 for victory in the fourth innings of the match. The hosts entered the field on the morning of the fifth day with 94 runs for 4 wickets. Captain Dean Elgar was unbeaten on 52 runs. Although Elgar spent the first hour of the day well with Temba Bavuma, Jasprit Bumrah put pressure on the Proteas by taking the wicket of Elgar (6) with an lbw at the team’s 130 runs.

Then Temba Bavuma took over the responsibility. It was not impossible to leave the field with a victory if he could’ve got good support from his teammates. Quinton de Kock was also undone in the fourth innings. The wicket-keeper, who scored 21 off 28 balls, was bowled by Mohammed Siraj. After that, Bavuma could no longer fight with the lower order. In the end, he remained unbeaten on 35 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami took the highest number of three wickets each for India. Mohammed Siraj and Ravichandran Ashwin took two wickets each. Indian opener KL Rahul became the player of the match with 123 runs in the first innings and 23 runs in the second innings.
