Cricket Highlights, 29 Dec: BBL 2021/22 (Match 25 & Match 26), SA vs IND (1st Test – Day 4)

The 25th match of the BBL 2021/22 between Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat, the 26th match of the BBL 2021/22 between Melbourne Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes, and the 4th day of the 1st Test between South Africa and India rolled on the field yesterday. BBL 2021/22 – Match 25 (Sydney Sixers vs Brisbane Heat)

The Sydney Sixers have picked up a dramatic 2-wicket win over the Brisbane Heat at the Sydney Cricket Ground in the BBL 2021/22 at a low-scoring match. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, the Heat were bowled out for 105 in 19.1 overs due to the decent bowling of the Sixers’ bowlers.

Jack Wildermuth played the highest innings of 27 runs off 26 balls for the Heat. Max Bryant scored 22 and Ben Duckett scored 21 runs. Sean Abbott took the maximum number of 4 wickets for the Sixers. Ben Dwarshuis and Hayden Kerr took two wickets, and Daniel Christian took one wicket.

Chasing the easy target of 106 runs, the Sixers lost 8 wickets for 47 runs in the great bowling of the heat bowlers and started to get knocked out of the match. The Sixers then reached the port of victory with an unbeaten 59 run partnership for the 9th wicket from Sean Abbott and Ben Dwarshuis. For the team, Abbott top-scored with 37 off 43 balls, and Dwarshuis made 23 off 20 balls. Jack Wildermuth, James Bazley, and Xavier Bartlett took two wickets each for the Heat.

The Sydney Sixers have risen to the top of the points table after winning this game. On the other hand, Brisbane Heat is now at the 5th position in the points table after losing.

BBL 2021/22 – Match 26 (Melbourne Renegades vs Hobart Hurricanes)

In the 26th match of BBL 2021/22, Hobart Hurricanes have got a huge victory of 85 runs against Melbourne Renegades courtesy of Ben McDermott’s remarkable century at Marvel Stadium in Docklands. After losing the toss and batting first, the Hurricanes lost 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and scored a big total of 206 runs.

For the Hurricanes, Ben McDermott played a devastating inning of 127 off 65 balls with 9 fours and 9 sixes. Besides, Tim David remained unbeaten after playing a stormy inning of 30 runs off 9 balls. Reece Topley took the highest number of two wickets for the Renegades, and Nic Maddinson and Jack Prestwidge took one wicket each.

Chasing the huge target of 207 runs, the Renegades were bowled out for 121 in 15.5 overs by great bowling of the Hurricanes bowlers. Wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Harper played the highest innings of 57 off 35 balls for the team. Jake Fraser-McGurk also scored 21 runs. Thomas Rogers and Sandeep Lamichhane took the maximum number of 3 wickets each for the Hurricanes. D’Arcy Short and Riley Meredith also took one wicket each.

Hobart Hurricanes rose to 3rd place in the points table after winning this match. On the other hand, Melbourne Renegades are at the bottom of the points table after the debacle.

SA vs IND (1st Test – Day 4)

The Indian cricket team lost one wicket at the end of the third day and scored 16 runs, they came to the field on the morning of the fourth day with KL Rahul (5) and Shardul Thakur (4) at the crease. But none of the batsmen could stand tall at the crease properly in the aggressive bowling of the Proteas bowlers. KL Rahul was dismissed for 23 runs. Shardul Thakur scored 10 runs. Cheteshwar Pujara scored 16 runs. Virat Kohli returned to the dressing room with 18 runs.

Ajinkya Rahane scored 20 runs and Rishabh Pant scored the highest 34 runs for the team. Ravichandran Ashwin scored 14 runs. Mohammed Shami was dismissed for 1 run. Jasprit Bumrah remained unbeaten on 7 runs. In the end, India got all out for 174 runs in 50.3 overs. Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen took the maximum number of 4 wickets each for South Africa. Apart from them, Lungi Ngidi picked up the remaining two wickets.

Batting for 305-run to get the victory, South Africa lost opener Aiden Markram (1) in the third ball of the second over of the innings. After that Mohammed Siraj sent off Keegan Petersen (17) to the dressing room while the score of the Africans was 34 runs.

However, towards the end of the day’s play, Jasprit Bumrah took a pair of wickets of Rassie van der Dussen (11) and Keshav Maharaj (8). In the end, South Africa lost 4 wickets for 94 runs and needed 211 runs on the 5th to get the triumph. Proteas captain Dean Elgar (52) ended the 4th day’s play remaining unbeaten.
