BAN vs PAK (1st Test – Day 2)
After losing four wickets for 253 runs on the first day, Bangladesh’s cricket team returned to the field on the second day morning with Liton Das (113) and Mushfiqur Rahim (82) at the crease. But in the aggressive bowling of Pakistani bowlers, the Tigers lost the last 6 wickets to add only 77 runs to the team score on the second day.
After batting and adding only 2 runs to the scoreboard, Liton (114) returned to the dressing room after falling victim to Hasan Ali. Another batsman, Mushfiqur, could not survive on the wicket for long. He returned to the pavilion after playing an adventurous inning of 91, playing 225 balls as the seventh batsman for the team of 276 runs. The New Zealand cricket team, which scored 129 runs without losing a wicket at the end of the second day, entered the field on the second day morning with Will Young (75) and Tom Latham (50) at the crease. But Indian spinner Axar Patel’s whirlwind scattered the visitors’ innings and they got all out for 296 runs.
The two New Zealand openers made an opening partnership of 151 runs. The Kiwis’ batting line-up collapsed like a house of cards after opener Will Young was dismissed for 89 off 214 balls. Debutant Rachin Ravindra also returned to the dressing room with 13 runs. Kyle Jamieson left with 23 runs. In the end, the Kiwis batted 142.3 overs and scored 296 runs at a run rate of 2.07.
