Cricket Highlights, 27 Nov: BAN vs PAK (1st Test – Day 2), IND vs NZ (1st Test – Day 3)

BAN vs PAK (1st Test – Day 2)

After losing four wickets for 253 runs on the first day, Bangladesh’s cricket team returned to the field on the second day morning with Liton Das (113) and Mushfiqur Rahim (82) at the crease. But in the aggressive bowling of Pakistani bowlers, the Tigers lost the last 6 wickets to add only 77 runs to the team score on the second day.

After batting and adding only 2 runs to the scoreboard, Liton (114) returned to the dressing room after falling victim to Hasan Ali. Another batsman, Mushfiqur, could not survive on the wicket for long. He returned to the pavilion after playing an adventurous inning of 91, playing 225 balls as the seventh batsman for the team of 276 runs. Before that, Yasir Ali (4) also returned to the dressing room. Then Mehidy Hasan was able to put up some resistance. He scored an unbeaten 38 off 68 balls.

In the end, the Tigers’ first innings stopped at 330 runs in 114.4 overs. Hasan Ali has taken the maximum number of 5 wickets for the Men in Greens. Besides, Faheem Ashraf and Shaheen Afridi took 2 wickets each, and Sajid Khan took 1 wicket each.

Pakistan openers Abid Ali and Abdullah Shafique got off to a great start by batting in their first innings. After trailing by 185 runs from Bangladesh, they finished the second day’s play by scoring 145 runs in 85 overs in the opening partnership. Abid Ali (93*) and Abdullah Shafique (52*) will start the third day’s play.

IND vs NZ (1st Test – Day 3)

The New Zealand cricket team, which scored 129 runs without losing a wicket at the end of the second day, entered the field on the second day morning with Will Young (75) and Tom Latham (50) at the crease. But Indian spinner Axar Patel’s whirlwind scattered the visitors’ innings and they got all out for 296 runs.

The two New Zealand openers made an opening partnership of 151 runs. The Kiwis’ batting line-up collapsed like a house of cards after opener Will Young was dismissed for 89 off 214 balls. Tom Latham tried to hold on to one end. But just 5 runs away from his century, the batsman returned to the pavilion after playing an innings of 95 runs. Kane Williamson (16), Ross Taylor (11), Henry Nicholls (2), and Tom Blundell (13) got out cheaply.

Debutant Rachin Ravindra also returned to the dressing room with 13 runs. Kyle Jamieson left with 23 runs. In the end, the Kiwis batted 142.3 overs and scored 296 runs at a run rate of 2.07. Axar Patel took the highest number of 5 wickets for the Men in Blues. Besides, Ravichandran Ashwin took 3 wickets, Umesh Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja took 1 wicket each.

India lost opener Shubman Gill’s wicket early in the second innings after coming down to bat with a 49-run lead. He was bowled by Kyle Jamieson. India lost 1 wicket in the second innings and scored 14 runs At the end of the third day. Mayank Agarwal is unbeaten on 4, and Cheteshwar Pujara is unbeaten on 9.
