PSL 2022 – Match 1 (Karachi Kings vs Multan Sultans)
In the first match of PSL 2022, Multan Sultans have clinched a big victory of 7 wickets against Karachi Kings, courtesy of Imran Tahir’s great spell at Karachi National Stadium. After losing the toss and opting to bat first, the Kings managed to score 124 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs due to the controlled bowling of the Sultans bowlers.
Sharjeel Khan played the top-scoring innings of 43 off 31 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. In addition, Joe Clarke scored 26 and captain Babar Azam scored 23 runs for Karachi King. Imran Tahir took the maximum number of 3 wickets for 16 runs in 4 overs for Sultans. Besides, Khushdil Shah and Shahnawaz Dahani took one wicket each.
Chasing an easy target of 125 runs, the Sultans lost just 3 wickets and reached the port of victory with 10 balls to spare. Captain Mohammad Rizwan played an unbeaten 52-run match-winning innings for the team smashing 5 fours and 1 six. Besides, Sohaib Maqsood scored 30 off 31 balls and Shan Masood scored 26 off 18 balls. Mohammad Nabi took the highest number of 2 wickets for the Kings, and Mohammad Ilyas took 1 wicket.
After winning this match, Defending champions Multan Sultans have started their tournament on a winning note. On the other hand, Karachi Kings will get their first points in the next game against Quetta Gladiators tomorrow.
