Cricket Highlights, 25 Jan: BPL 2022 (Match 7 & Match 8)

The 7th match of the BPL 2022 between Sylhet Sunrisers vs Minister Group Dhaka and the 8th match of the BPL 2022 between Comilla Victorians vs Fortune Barishal rolled on the field yesterday. 

BPL 2022 – Match 07 (Sylhet Sunrisers vs Minister Group Dhaka)

Sylhet Sunrisers have clinched a 7-wicket win over Minister Group Dhaka in a low-scoring match at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday in BPL 2022. After losing the toss and opting to bat first, the Minister Group got bowled out for 100 in 18.4 overs due to the outstanding bowling performance of the Sunrisers’ bowlers.

Mahmudullah, the captain of the Minister Group, played the highest-scoring inning of 33 off 26 balls for his team. In addition, Shuvagata Hom scored 21, and Mohammad Naim scored 15 runs. For the Sunrisers, Nazmul Islam took the maximum number of 4 wickets, conceding 18 runs in 4 overs. Taskin Ahmed took 3 wickets, and Sohag Gazi took 2 wickets each.

Chasing an easy target of 101 runs, Sunrisers lost just 3 wickets and reached the port of victory with 18 balls in hand. Wicketkeeper-batsman Anamul Haque top-scored with 45 off 45 balls. Colin Ingram (21 off 19 balls) and Mohammad Mithun (17 off 15 balls) played two effective innings. For the Minister Group, Mashrafe Mortaza took the most number of 2 wickets, and Hasan Murad took 1 wicket each.

After winning this match, Sylhet Sunrisers have risen to 3rd place in the points table. On the other hand, the Minister Group Dhaka is in the 5th position in the points table after this defeat.

BPL 2022 – Match 08 (Comilla Victorians vs Fortune Barishal)

In the 8th match of BPL 2022, Comilla Victorians got a massive victory of 63 runs against Fortune Barishal at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. After losing the toss, the Victorians batted first and scored 158 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.

Mahmudul Hasan Joy played the top-scoring innings of 48 runs off 35 balls with 6 fours and 1 six for the Victorians. In addition, Karim Janat scored an unbeaten 29 off 16 balls, and Cameron Delport scored 19 off 13 balls. Dwayne Bravo took the maximum number of 3 wickets for the Fortune, and Shakib Al Hasan took 2 wickets each.

Chasing a challenging target of 159, the Fortune’s were bowled out for 95 in 17.3 overs by the stellar bowling of the Victorians’ bowlers. Najmul Hossain Shanto scored the highest 36 runs from 47 balls. Besides, Towhid Hridoy scored 19, and Nurul Hasan scored 17 runs. Nahidul Islam took the maximum number of 3 wickets conceding just 5 runs in 4 overs for the Victorians. Tanvir Islam, Shohidul Islam, and Karim Janat took two wickets each.

Comilla Victorians have risen to the top of the table by winning this match. After getting defeated, Fortune Barisal is at the bottom of the points table.
