The Knockout match of the BBL 2021/22 play-offs between Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers and the 3rd and final match of the 3-match ODI series between South Africa and India rolled on the field yesterday.
BBL 2021/22 – Knockout (Sydney Thunder vs Adelaide Strikers)
The Adelaide Strikers have won the BBL 2021/22 knockout match against the Sydney Thunder by 6 runs thanks to great innings by Ian Cockbain at the MCG in Melbourne. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, the Strikers scored 184 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.
Ian Cockbain played a devastating inning of 65 off 38 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes for the Strikers. Matthew Short (39 off 28 balls) and Alex Carey (23 off 14 balls) also played two stormy innings. For the Thunder, Tanveer Sangha and Gurinder Sandhu took the maximum number of 2 wickets each.
Chasing the challenging target of 185 runs, the Thunder lost 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and their innings stopped at 178 runs due to the impeccable bowling of the Strikers’ bowler. Jason Sangha played the top-scoring innings of 61 runs from 43 balls. Alex Ross (56 off 39 balls) and Usman Khawaja (23 off 17 balls) were the other notable contributors for them as well. Harry Conway and Peter Siddle took the maximum number of two wickets each for the Strikers. Henry Thornton and Matthew Short also took 1 wicket each.
After winning this match, the Adelaide Strikers will face the Sydney Sixers in the challenger match of the tournament. On the other hand, Sydney Thunder was knocked out of the tournament after losing.

SA vs IND (3rd ODI)
Hosts South Africa registered a stunning four-run victory over visiting India in the third and final ODI of the series in Cape Town on Sunday. As a result, India has lost 3 matches of the series and got whitewashed by the Proteas.
After losing the toss and opting to bat, the Proteas were all out for 287 runs in 49.5 overs. With 12 fours and 2 sixes, Quinton de Kock top-scored, making 124 runs off 130 balls for the team. With this century, De Kock has risen to the second position in the list of batsmen who have scored the most number of centuries against India. In addition, Rassie van der Dussen scored 52, and David Miller scored 39 runs. For India, Prasidh Krishna took the most 3 wickets, and Deepak Chahar and Jasprit Bumrah took 2 wickets each.
Chasing a challenging target of 288 runs, India was bowled out for 283 in 49.2 overs by the controlled bowling of the Proteas bowlers. India needed 6 runs to win the last over with 1 wicket in hand. Yuzvendra Chahal and Prasidh Krishna were in the crease then. But when Chahal was dismissed in the second ball of Dwaine Pretorius, India lost by 4 runs with that dismissal. Virat Kohli scored the highest 65 runs for the team. Besides, Shikhar Dhawan scored 61, and Deepak Chahar scored 54 runs.
For South Africa, Lungi Ngidi and Andile Phehlukwayo took the maximum number of 3 wickets each. Dwaine Pretorius also took 2 wickets. Quinton de Kock became the Player of the Match and Series with great performances.
