The 2nd day of the 1st Test between West Indies & Sri Lanka took place yesterday. Let’s have a look to know about the exciting moments of the day.
WI vs SL (1st Test – Day 2)
West Indies came to the field on the second day with Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell at the crease, they were at 13 runs without losing a wicket at the end of the first day. In the third over of the day, Kraigg Brathwaite returned to the dressing room scoring only 3 runs off Suranga Lakmal. Nkrumah Bonner came to the wicket after that. He made a partnership of 56 runs with John Campbell on the second wicket. After a while, Nkrumah Bonner (31) and John Campbell (42) returned to the dressing room and Kyle Mayers came to the wicket. Kyle Mayers (45) lost the wicket after being caught by Silva in the delivery of Suranga Lakmal. After that Suranga Lakmal picked up Jermaine Blackwood, Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph one by one and the hosts fell out of the match.
Joshua Da Silva and spinner Rahkeem Cornwall’s 90-run stand for the eighth wicket brought the Caribbeans back into the match. Wicketkeeper-batsman Joshua da Silva returned for 46, but Rahkeem is still on the wicket with an unbeaten 60 off 79 balls. Earlier, he scored the first half-century of his Test career playing 72 balls with hitting a four in the delivery of Lasith Embuldeniya. With Rahkeem Cornwall (60*) and Kemar Roach (4*) on the wicket, the hosts finished the second day being 99 runs ahead of the visitors.
Suranga Lakmal (5-45, 24 overs) was the highest wicket-taker for the Lankans on the day and this is the fourth 5-wicket haul in his Test career.
