SL vs WI (1st Test – Day 1)

Winning the toss, Sri Lanka’s Test captain Dimuth Karunaratne was elected to bat in the first Test of the series yesterday. This series is Mickey Arthur’s last series as the coach of Sri Lanka. The Lankans are in a great position on the first day. They lost 3 wickets and picked up 267 runs.

Sri Lankan openers Pathum Nissanka and Dimuth Karunaratne got off to a great start after coming down to bat. These two batsmen collected a big score of 139 runs in the opening partnership. Nissanka returned to the pavilion with 56 off 140 balls, but Karunaratne picked up the 13th century of his career. At the end of the day, he was unbeaten on 132 off 13 boundaries, playing 256 balls.
