Cricket Highlights, 19 Mar: RSWS T20 (Semifinal 2), AGF vs ZIM (2nd T20)

The 2nd Semi-Final of the Road Safety World Series T20 2020-21 between Sri Lanka Legends & South Africa Legends and the 2nd T20I between Afghanistan & Zimbabwe took place yesterday. Let’s have a glimpse of learning about the exciting moments of them.

RSWS T20 (2020-21) Semifinal 2 (Sri Lanka Legends vs South Africa Legends)

In the second semi-final match of the series in Raipur, Sri Lanka Legends defeated South Africa Legends by 8 wickets by dominating both in batting and bowling units. With this win, Sri Lanka Legends reached the final of the RSWS T20 2020-21 series.

After losing the toss, South Africa Legends were bowled out for 125 runs by a decent spell from fast bowler Nuwan Kulasekara. South Africa Legends wicketkeeper-batsman Morne Van Wyk scored the best for the team. He made 53 off 47 balls. The pacer, Nuwan Kulasekara was the best bowler of Sri Lanka Legends on the day, picking up 5 wickets conceding 25 runs in 4 overs.

Chasing an easy target of 127 runs, Sri Lanka Legends reached the port of victory after losing only 2 wickets. Openers Tillakaratne Dilshan and Sanath Jayasuriya both returned to the dressing room scoring an individual of 18 runs. But an unbeaten 70-run stand by Upul Tharanga and Chinthaka Jayasinghe in the third wicket partnership guided Sri Lanka Legends to victory. Chinthaka Jayasinghe (47*) and Upul Tharanga (39*) scored well for the team. 

India Legends and Sri Lanka Legends will face each other in the final of the RSWS T20 series tomorrow night.

AFG vs ZIM (2nd T20)

In the second T20 match of the series in Abu Dhabi, Afghanistan won by a huge margin of 45 runs against Zimbabwe with the help of Mohammad Nabi’s all-around performance. After winning the toss, the Afghan batsman started to raise a storm at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Opener Usman Ghani and batsman Karim Janat put on 102 runs for the second wicket. After that Usman Ghani (49) and Karim Janat (53) returned to the dressing room and Mohammad Nabi came on the wicket. Nabi’s innings was studded with 2 fours and 4 sixes & he scored 40 off 15 balls, playing devastating innings. Afghanistan put up a challenging score of 193 runs on the board. Blessing Muzarabani picked up most wickets for Zimbabwe (2-44, 4 overs).

Coming down for chasing this huge target, Zimbabwe started to get faded losing the opener Tinashe Kamunhukamwe in the first ball of the innings. Afghanistan dominated both in batting and bowling. Zimbabwe’s all-rounder Ryan Burl batted the best for the team scoring 40 off 29 balls. Rashid Khan was the best bowler on the day for Afghanistan with picking up 3 wickets for 30 runs. Mohammad Nabi and Naveen-ul-Haq took two wickets each for the team.

In this match, Afghanistan defeated Zimbabwe 2-0 and won the three-match series with one match in hand. The third and final T20 match of the series will be held at the same ground today.
