BBL 2021/22 – Match 14 (Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Thunder)

In the 14th match of BBL 2021/22, Sydney Thunder got a glorious victory of 53 runs against Brisbane Heat at The Gabba in Brisbane. After losing the toss, Thunder lost 7 wickets in 20 overs and collected a huge score of 196 runs.

For the Thunder, Sam Billings hit five fours and five sixes and top-scored for the team making 64 off 27 balls. Jason Sangha (39 off 28 balls) and Alex Hales (35 off 26 balls) also played two great innings. Xavier Bartlett, Mark Steketee, and Mitchell Swepson took two wickets each for the Heat.

To defend the huge target of 197 runs, the Thunder bowlers bowled brilliantly and bowled out the Heat in 17.3 overs. Xavier Bartlett played the highest innings of 42 off 29 balls remaining unbeaten. Mark Steketee made 33 off 24 balls and Tom Cooper made 32 off 18 balls. Saqib Mahmood took the maximum number of 4 wickets for Thunder. Tanveer Sangha took 3 wickets.

After winning this match, Sydney Thunder has risen to 3rd place in the points table. On the other hand, after losing, Brisbane Heat is at 7th position in the points table.

AUS vs ENG (2nd Test – Day 4)

Australia started the 4th day’s game with 45 runs for 1 wicket. From there, Michael Neser (3), Marcus Harris (23), and Steven Smith (6) returned to the dressing room while the team total was only 55 runs. Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne added 89 runs for the fifth wicket. Before returning to the pavilion, Labuschagne and Head both played two effective innings of 51 runs.

Cameron Green then played an innings of 33 off 43 balls and remained unbeaten. In the end, Australia lost 9 wickets and scored 230 runs to declare their second innings. As a result, with a 237-run lead in the first innings, they set a target of 468 runs for England. Ollie Robinson, Joe Root, and Dawid Malan took two wickets each for England.

After coming down to chase the huge target of 468 runs, England’s right-arm opener Haseeb Hameed returned to the dressing room before opening the scoring in the second over. Rory Burns (34), Dawid Malan (20), and Joe Root (24) failed to do much after raising hopes. Ben Stokes is unbeaten on 3 playing 40 balls. After losing four wickets and collecting 82 runs, England ended the fourth day’s play and they are falling behind by 386 runs.
