The 2nd ODI of the 3-match series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, the 1st ODI of the 3-match series between India and Sri Lanka and the 2nd T20I of the 3-match series between England and Pakistan rolled on the field yesterday. ZIM vs BAN (2nd ODI)

The Tigers have secured the series with one match in hand with the responsible batting of the world’s best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. Bangladesh won the second match of the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe by 3 wickets thanks to his unbeaten 96 off 109 balls.

Zimbabwe scored 240 runs for the loss of 9 wickets after batting first at the Harare Sports Club ground on Sunday. Wesley Madhevere scored the highest 56 runs for the team hitting 5 fours and 1 six. Besides, captain Brendon Taylor scored 46 runs. Sikandar Raza scored 30 runs. Young fast bowler Shoriful Islam (4-46, 10 overs) took the most number of wickets for Bangladesh. Shakib Al Hasan took 2 wickets conceding 42 runs.

While batting for 241, opener Tamim Iqbal was dismissed for the team’s 39 in 9.3 overs. After Tamim was dismissed, Liton and Mithun returned with 11 runs’ difference. Then Mosaddek Hossain returned to the dressing room after making a 25-run stand with Shakib for the fourth wicket.

Mahmudullah (26) put on a 55-run stand with Shakib for the fifth wicket. After Mahmudullah getting out, Mehidy Hasan Miraz could not give Shakib a worthy company. He returned with only 15 runs. Afif (15) returned to the dressing room as the seventh batsman while the team total was 173 runs in 38.3 overs.

SL vs IND (1st ODI)

India beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets with 80 balls to spare in the 1st ODI of the 3-match series at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday. The Lankans batted first in the match and scored 262 runs for 9 wickets. In reply to, batting storm in response, India won in just 36.4 overs.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Chamika Karunaratne, who came down to number eight, helped Sri Lanka to get a collection of 250+ runs. With his unbeaten 43-run innings off 35 balls in 1 four and 2 sixes, the Lankans were able to make that score. Among the recognized batsmen, Avishka Fernando (33 off 35 balls), Mind Bhanuka (27 off 44 balls), Bhanuka Rajapaksa (24 off 22 balls), Dhananjaya De Silva (14 off 27 balls), Charith Asalanka (38 off 65 balls) and captain Dasun Shanaka (39 off 50 balls) contributed some runs for the team. Deepak Chahar, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each for India.

In response to Sri Lanka’s 262 runs, Prithvi Shaw raised a cyclone start to the host bowlers from the very beginning. Although the target was not very big, Prithvi played in a proper T20 mood with 9 boundaries and scored 43 runs off 24 balls. Later, Shikhar Dhawan and Ishan Kishan’s half-centuries helped India reach the target in 36.4 overs. Dhawan scored an unbeaten 86 playing 95 balls. Ishan Kishan played a great innings of 59 off 42 balls. Manish Pandey (26) and Suryakumar Yadav (31) remained unbeaten.

India won the match and went ahead 1-0 in the series. Sri Lanka will come down to the field in the second match tomorrow to fight for survival in the series.

ENG vs PAK (2nd T20I)

England scored 200 before being bowled out after losing the toss at Headingley in Leeds on Sunday night in the second T20I of the 3-match series. In reply, Pakistan could not score more than 155 runs losing 9 wickets in 20 overs. The hosts’ 45-run win brought the series back to a 1-1 draw.

Jos Buttler, the captain, and wicketkeeper-batsman of the match scored the highest 59 runs in England’s big collection. He hit 59 off 39 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes before being dismissed in the 14th over of the innings. Besides, Moeen Ali played a tornado innings of 16 balls, he made 36 off 16 balls smashing 6 fours and 1 six. Mohammad Hasnain took the maximum number of 3 wickets for 51 runs for Pakistan.

Pakistan started losing wickets at regular intervals from the start after coming down to play for the target of 201 runs. Captain Babar Azam scored 22 off 16 balls, Mohammad Rizwan scored 37 off 29 balls, Sohaib Maqsood scored 15 off 10 balls, Mohammad Hafeez scored 10 off 12 balls, and Imad Wasim scored 20 off 13 balls. The visitors were in danger after losing 6 wickets for just 105 runs. In the end, leg spinner Shadab Khan’s cameo innings of 36 off 22 balls in 2 fours and 3 sixes, helped the team reach 150+ runs.

Saqib Mahmood has taken a maximum number of 3 wickets for England. Besides, Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali took two wickets each.
