IND vs NZ (1st T20I)
Hosts India has won the first match of a 3-match T20I series against New Zealand by 5 wickets with 2 balls to spare at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday night. The win gave India a 1-0 lead in the series.
After losing the toss and batting first, New Zealand lost 6 wickets in 20 overs and scored 164 runs. Martin Guptill and Mark Chapman played well and made two half-centuries for the team. Guptill played a devastating inning of 70 off 42 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes. Chapman made 63 off 50 balls. Ravichandran Ashwin and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took the highest number of 2 wickets each for the Men in Blue. Mohammed Siraj and Deepak Chahar took one wicket each.
India got off to a great start by batting for a challenging target of 165 runs. They lost 1 wicket in 6 overs of powerplay and picked up 56 runs. Kiwi bowlers tried hard but in the end, India reached the port of victory by losing 5 wickets in 19.4 overs thanks to great innings by Suryakumar Yadav and captain Rohit Sharma.
Yadav played a stormy inning of 62 off 40 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes, Rohit scored 48 off 36 balls. For New Zealand, Trent Boult took two wickets, and Mitchell Santner, Daryl Mitchell, and Tim Southee took one wicket each.
