ENG vs IND (2nd Test – Day 5)
In the Lord’s Test, India has defeated the hosts England by 151 runs with the decent performances of Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ishant Sharma. As a result, the visitors went ahead 1-0 in the five-match series.
India went down to play on the fifth day after leading by 154 runs. Rishabh Pant (22) and Ishant Sharma (16) returned to the dressing room after adding 28 runs to the scoreboard. Then Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami of the lower order took the helm of the team. In 20 overs, India collected a big score of 271 runs in their unbroken 89-run partnership. They declared the innings unbeaten on Shami’s 57 and Bumrah’s 34.
Rory Burns and Dom Sibley were bowled out for zero to chase the target of 272. Haseeb Hameed, who came down in the third over, could not do well. He returned to the dressing room scoring just 9 runs. Captain Joe Root scored the highest 33 runs for England. Besides, Jos Buttler scored 25 and Moeen Ali 13 runs.
Apart from these three, no other England batsman has reached double figures. Five England batsmen could not open the record of scoring. In the end, England got all out scoring 120 runs in 51.5 overs. For India, Mohammad Siraj took a maximum number of 4 wickets. Besides, Jasprit Bumrah took 3 wickets and Ishant Sharma took 2 wickets.
KL Rahul, who scored 129 in India’s first innings and 21 in the second innings, was awarded as the player of the match.
