BBL 2021/22 – Match 39 (Adelaide Strikers vs Melbourne Stars)

Henry Thornton’s aggressive bowling at the Adelaide Oval gave the Adelaide Strikers a 23-run victory over the Melbourne Stars in the 39th match of the BBL 2021/22. After losing the toss and getting to bat first, the Strikers lost 6 wickets in 20 overs and scored 155 runs.

Jonathan Wells played a devastating innings of 73 off 49 balls smashing 6 fours and 1 six for the Strikers. Matthew Short also made 33 off 22 balls. For the Stars, Sam Rainbird and Clint Hinchliffe took the maximum number of two wickets each.

After coming down to chase the challenging target of 156 runs, The Stars’ innings came to a halt at 132 after losing 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs due to the brilliant bowling of the Strikers’ bowlers. The Star’s innings ended at 132 runs. Hilton Cartwright scored the highest 49 runs playing 35 balls for the team. Joe Burns (25) and Glenn Maxwell (16) played two short innings in the way of chasing the target. Henry Thornton took the maximum number of 4 wickets conceding 26 runs in 4 overs for the Strikers.

The Adelaide Strikers have risen to 4th place in the points table after winning this match. The Melbourne Stars, on the other hand, are now 6th in the points table after losing.

BBL 2021/22 – Match 50 (Sydney Sixers vs Sydney Thunder)

In the 50th match of BBL 2021/22, the Sydney Sixers have got a huge victory of 60 runs against the Sydney Thunder in the whirling magic of Steve O’Keefe at the SCG in Sydney. After losing the toss and batting first, the Sixers lost 5 wickets in 20 overs and collected a big score of 197 runs.

Daniel Hughes hit 66 off 48 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes for the Sixers. Josh Philippe also played a stormy innings of 57 off 35 balls and Moises Henriques made an unbeaten 47 runs playing 27 balls. Nathan McAndrew and Daniel Sams took two wickets each for Thunder.

Chasing the huge target of 198 runs, the Thunder lost 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs in the bowling cannon of the Sixers bowlers. Captain Chris Green top-scored with 50 off 31 balls for the team. Besides, Jason Sangha scored 22 and Tanveer Sangha scored 17 runs for the Thunder. Steve O’Keefe snapped up the maximum number of 4 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs for the Sixers. Ben Dwarshuis took 2 wickets and Moises Henriques and Hayden Kerr took 1 wicket.

The Sydney Sixers are ranked second place in the points table after winning this match. On the other hand, Sydney Thunder is now at 3rd place in the points table after the debacle.
