Cricket Highlights, 14 Aug: ENG vs IND (WTC, 2nd Test– Day 3), WI vs PAK (WTC, 1st Test– Day 3)

The 3rd day of the 2nd Test between England and India & the 3rd day of the 1st Test between West Indies and Pakistan rolled on the field yesterday. Let’s have a glimpse at the article to know about the exciting happenings of the days’ games.

ENG vs IND (2nd Test – Day 3)

England lost 3 wickets to collect 119 at the end of the second day, they came om the field on the morning of the third day with Joe Root (48*) and Jonny Bairstow (6*) at the crease. In the second over of the day, Root picked up a half-century by hitting a four off Mohammed Siraj. Bairstow then picked up the 22nd half-century of his career shortly before the lunch break.

After returning from the break, Bairstow (52) returned to the pavilion after losing his wicket to Siraj. Then Jos Buttler came on the wicket. After a while, the captain picked up the 22nd century of his career. Now, he also holds the record for the most Test centuries in a calendar year as a captain in the history of England.

However, no one else could give Root a worthy company in the wicket. He himself dragged the team alone and put pressure on India. Butler (23) and Moeen Ali (27) returned to the dressing room one by one but Root finally left the field remaining unbeaten on 180 runs. He also gave England a 27-run lead. Mohammad Siraj took the most number of 4 wickets for India. Besides, Ishant Sharma took 3 wickets and Mohammad Shami took 2 wickets.

WI vs PAK (1st Test – Day 3)

West Indies lost 8 wickets scoring 251 runs at the end of the second day and they came on the field on the morning of the third day with Joshua Da Silva (20*) and Jomel Warrican (1*) at the crease. Within 3 overs of the start of the game, the Caribbeans were bowled out adding just two runs on the day. They took a lead of 36 runs in their first innings.

Shaheen Afridi has taken the maximum number of 4 wickets for Pakistan. Besides, Mohammad Abbas took 3 wickets, and Faheem Ashraf and Hasan Ali took 1 wicket each.

Batting in the second innings, Pakistan lost the first wicket while their collection was just 1 run. After that, Abid Ali (34) and Azhar Ali (23) tried to take the helm of the team but could not do so due to the bowling cannon of the Caribbeans. Pakistan lost 4 wickets to score only 65 runs.

After that, captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan brought them back into the match. However, Rizwan (30) returned to the dressing room but Babar finished the third day remaining unbeaten on 52 runs. Faheem Ashraf (12*) is also unbeaten alongside him. Kemar Roach and Jayden Seales took 2 wickets and Jason Holder took 1 wicket for West Indies.
